My Grandchickens 12-25-09
Sharon's chickens. Beaker is white. Snyder is charcoal grey with the feathers on top. Both were out while the kids were sledding. The two youngest chicks are still in the house, too young to put out in the cold. This is my city-dwelling daughter. Wonder how many other Philadelphians have backyard chickens.

Pearl, the Escape Artist 12-22-09
We lost the roof netting over their "play pen" with some ice we had a couple weeks ago.
Parke went outside today, and Pearl was in the yard. She must have flown out over the 6 foot fence. We left her out for awhile. Then later, Parke saw her on top of the 6 foot high kennel.
Guess a certain adventurous girl will be getting her flight feathers trimmed.

Polish Haircuts before and after pics 12-14-09
The two Polish chickens have all these feathers on top their heads that they get wet in the water dish. In the winter that is a problem because the water freezes on their feathers. So, today they got haircuts. Phyllis, named after Phyllis Diller, is the white hen. She doesn't have a lot of feathers. But buff colored Chicken Little has this crazy do. She could be named Helen after Helen Keller because she can't see where she is going ever. She runs into everything. We trimmed hers back a lot and she can finally see out through what is left. We'll see if it's enough or if we have to get them shorter. I'm holding Phyllis' before pic. Parke is holding CL's before pic.

Night Night 12-8-09
Parke complains every time I get another animal. He seems to want people to think he is not an animal lover. These pics prove how attached he is to them.
Parke made a step for the fuzzball to be able to get up on the bed easily. I was reading last night when the little guy jumped up. I watched him settle on Parke's face and pillow. Parke didn't care.
As I read for half an hour, I snapped pics as their positions changed.
This proves Parke is a bunch of hot air when he complains about our animals.
You have to admit, it doesn't get any cuter than this.
