Taming New Chicks 5-2-12

I hold the new girls every night to get them used to it and being with people. I put a towel across me for protection from droppings. Of course, they are up on my shoulder, silly girls.

Watching a Phillies game.

Buttons was the fourth cat to get on the chair to check out the family additions.

Chicken Tractor 4-30-12

Parke and I (as un-handy as we are) built a chicken tractor for the chickens. It's a simple frame covered in chicken wire. We can put the girls in there so they can be in the yard this summer. Due to the pair of hawks living nearby (and that killed our precious Phyllie in March), we can't let the girls free range unprotected. This "play pen" will keep them safe from the hawks and allow them to have yard time.

Ducks at Twin Oaks 4-29-12

There are ducklings and mama in the courtyard at Twin Oaks Nursing Home, where Parke works part time.

Two New Chicks Today 4-28-12

I got two new chicks today. This is a 4 week old black frizzle cochin.

This is a 2 week old white crested black Polish.

They will stay in the bathroom for a while until it is warmer outside, especially at night, and the little one gets a little older.

New Stray Cat 4-23-12

We have a new stray cat.  I'm hoping to tame it. Pics were taken thru back door.

Chicken Clothes 4-21-12

I thought Parke and I should have some clothes for when we do our chicken programs.

Parke gets a hat.
